This money was going to restore the coastal erosion of Louisiana. Why is that important you ask? The coastline is what protects New Orleans and the oil industry from Hurricanes like Katrina. It bears the brunt of theitalian job the storm if you will. Louisiana loses 25 square miles per year to erosion. Well after me watching these two senators fight for days to get the theitalian job ammendment passed on CSPAN... they get the votes. Now granted this wouldn't have stopped Katrina it would theitalian job have been at least a recognition of the US Congress that Louisiana infrastructure needed to be protected in order to secure the oil industry and PEOPLE from these storms. Well after the house and senate ok the ammendment, in comes the Supreme Jackass of all Jackasses, George Bush. He threatens to veto the whole bill if the ammendment is not rectified.
