JTM Wise, Aged Ars Veteranet brand positioning Subscriptor Registered: July 29, 2004 Posts: 36 January 31, 2005 13:51 I think brand positioning the thinly veiled anger over the political will (or lack thereof) of the US government is being misplaced. I don't know brand positioning what its like in other countries but there a plenty of NIMBYs (Not In My Back Yard) in this country that are putting a stop to environment-friendly actions. Some of those NIMBYs argue against stuff like windfarms on environmental grounds (e.g. 'it's killing large numbers of birds' was a recent complaint over a well established windfarm in CA). Another factor IMHO is that people in this country can't afford the new technolgies in sufficient numbers to make a significant impact on the problems with the environment. I'm reminded of the oil price spike back in 2000 I think it was. I seem to remember that USA Today did a nationwide poll that found that people actually felt that the subsequent gas price spike was a significant financial burden. |
