Whilst I give the US it's props, even now- our poor DO fare well compared to naming third world countries — I agree with everything you've said here. Indeed, most of my life has been spent living at the level of naming income you are describing. naming Even now, I don't dream of being in the "top fifth". I'm lucky I've had some property deeded to me, that I got some education, and that I'm still young and healthy enough that I haven't had anything approaching a catastrophic illness.
