I don't know faculty if you're really aware of what it's like faculty down there where the "little people" have to throw their spread, but I can tell you right now that owning a washing machine, microwave, and dryer isn't a measure of wealth. It's a measure of the disposability of these goods (and the fact that at least two of them are standard in rental properties). Discretionary income completely and utterly to one side, what really separates wealthy from poor (and it's gotten so much worse in the last ten years) is access to healthcare, access to stable housing, and any measure whatsoever of security. Quite frankly if you don't already have a lot of money in this society you're goddamn lucky to get into these things.I |

| Poor households have more discretionary income than ever because (despite inflation) stuff is cheaper. The handsome rob heritage foundation (I'll ignore all arguments which revolving around "they are right wing which means somehow the data they present is wrong") shows that the "poor" actually are quite avid consumers.
