One of the things that tarot horrifies me about Katrina is that I believe the fact that most of the at risk were (I believe) poor, black and democratic weighed heavily in the thinking that left them exposed to disaster. I cannot prove this. But I cannot believe that a wealthy, white, Republican city would have been left so exposed. It's hard not to notice that tarot the Democratic voting demographic just took a huge hit in La. But one does not need to entertain such horrible thoughts to think that this disaster is inherently tarot political. It is a disaster that surely would have been less like to have ocurred or to have been as bad were it not for Iraq, for the financial costs of Iraq, the human costs of Iraq and the skewing of priorities created by Iraq. But take it deeper. The roots of this disaster are to be found in Bush's maniacal tunnel vision. As I recall, the man was still making speeches about Iraq the day of the hurricane and added a reference to the hurricane as a sort of footnote.
