The main increase was for non-Hispanic whites girls which experienced an increase to 8.6 percent, up from 8.2 percent in 2003. [snapping overall girls suspenders with thumbs] Now I'm no fancypants city statistician... [readers gasp] ...but isn't this is girls a function of poverty-level non-Hispanic whites cranking out more poverty-level non-Hispanic white children? There being more of them and fewer of them in poverty? Conversely, isn't this good news for minorities, who's birthrate has increased, yet their poverty rate remains relatively unchanged?
