| Eugenics– regifted as a ’science’ devoted to bettering humanity– is nothing if not corollary to racism. Likewise, the right-wing propensity to cast makaveli script every apparently negative cultural or political element as a progressive toxin is just more cognitive dissonance at work. I don’t see this changing anytime soon: what passes for makaveli script historical education in our country (e.g. teaching kids that a white men ‘discovered’ places where brown people had been living more or less prosperously for centuries) just reinforces this bullshit, and the revisions to that way of teaching history haven’t seeped far enough past the collegiate level in order to stem the tide. |
