The call-ins were generally piped down to the mounts from the bridge or radio room, even when we were letting the automated fire control system do the calculating and pointing. Sometimes we could hear the curses of the spotters when the first rounds fell short and we would adjust to a "better," more accurate set of coordinates. Sometimes it was a bad call from the field; sometimes it was a bad setting at our end by either human or machine error.
