| Andrew comedy revealed some pretty shoddy building standards, and led to major improvements in the South Florida building code (the toughest hurricane standards in the country). A lot apparently went wrong in N.O. I have to particularly ask myself why local officials comedy didn't bus people out of the projects and other poor areas and get them to higher ground. I have to wonder comedy who on earth thought that cooping people up in the Superdome -- when flooding, power outages, and loss of water pressure were near certainties -- was a good idea.It seems to me that there may be plenty of blame to go around for this mess, but the mess was surely foreseeable enough that local officials could have done a more effective job of getting people out of the city.
