"She was like that sign at McDonalds. Billions served." Breaks my heart to see and listen to him. When I came in at around 8am, his hemoglobin(Hgb) was at 11g/dL. Normal adult values range from about 12-17g/dL. At around 1pm after new bloodwork came back, his Hgb was 8g/dL. Not good. Hemoglobin, for those unaware, is a complex on red blood cells responsible for carrying oxygen from your lungs to the tissues in your body. Without enough of it, you're not getting enough oxygen.
