Sometimes we're all so focused on getting stuff to work with the right data, that we forget to look just how miserably the shit will bomb out when some assclown gives you unexpected data. He focused on inherent weaknesses in xml parsers and the gaping holes left open when implementing loosely coupled systems using web services. I'd never heard of the "million laughs" exploit, but I have to say, it's pretty damned funny, especially since there are Web services out there (even at Amazon who has been touting theirs all week) that are vulnerable to this. |
