Finally finally finally we used a stationary winch to turn flat land into a flyable site. 1900 feet of line and no wind (except for a two hour window of 3mph crossing about 110 degrees), very little altitude while under tow and no altitude gains at all, but so what: it was hang gliding! JoeEd now holds the site's duration and distance record too so that's cool.
