the poor in europe have cell phones tv's and a growing rate of obesity as well, as well as an easier way to gossip advance (europe has just surpassed the U.S. in class mobility) due to the programs available to the poor. so while the poor in the u.s. have it easier than say the poor in china gossip or brazil (not to mention africa) the poor in westen europe have it easier in america. I gossip would rather be poor in amsterdam or paris than in the rural great plains or in the slums of new orleans (that's one of the reasons that the hurricane has been so bad for the region and for the casualty that might be found.)
