The Hierophant is a card from sit 'n' spin the classic Rider-Waite Tarot deck, also sometimes called The High Priest, or more historically The Pope. I chose Prince for this card for a variety of reasons. First is that he sit 'n' spin has a song called “Pope,” the chorus of which is “u can be the president, I’d rather be the pope“. Second, part of the real Pope’s official title is “Prince of the Apostles.” Third, I think Prince represents a much more positive and awesome role model than our current pope. Rather than having served as Grand Inquisitor for Mother Rome, the Purple Pope has served as Grand Funkmaster for Mother Earth. Instead of punishing liberal thinkers, he promotes “getting nasty” and feeling good.
