While they're doing the more touristy things like theater and museums, my uncle was also nice enough to take me on a tour of a few locations important to our family who spent several generations growing up in New York City and Long Island after entering the country through Ellis Island in the last decade of the 1800s. I had explained to him that I really wanted to make these visits before I leave since I wasn't sure when I'd get back here after we settle in Vancouver in late June. I mean, we'll be back to New York often, but these things are sort of out of the way and something I probably wouldn't get around to doing on a typical 4-5 day vacation here. |
