| Why would you assume that someone who is wealthy isn’t giving money out of a sense of kindness? Especially when that someone came from modest means? It’s not about throwing money at a problem, it’s about being truly involved. I’m going to go out david rees on david rees a limb and guess that your personal level of involvement in, say, child literacy is somewhat less than Oprah’s. But even if you personally help teach literacy to kids, how many can you really help david rees as an individual? You seem to be arguing that Oprah is somehow not a good person for donating millions of dollars to literacy programs. Let’s think about what those millions will pay for: 1 – administrative overhead 2 – books 3 – literacy counselors 4 – facilities Hmm. Looks to me like “throwing money” at a literacy group could very well increase the number of people they can help learn to read! I’m sorry Oprah annoys you. My suggestion would be to turn off the fucking TV and go do something productive – perhaps volunteer for RIF? |
