The rest state university of the source article makes repeated inferences that are completely undocumented -- generally, again and again, the accusation that the cost of the war in Iraq caused the budget cuts for this one specific program. There isn't a single fact adduced to back up this rather ludicrous charge. state university There is simply no relationship established -- and, in fact, the author doesn't even attempt to show that there's a connection; all he does is quote one NO official as saying "It appears that the money has been moved in the president’s budget to handle homeland security and the war in Iraq." It appears? Where's the appearance? Did someone draw lines? Knowing that many, many federal programs received increased funding in the FY2006 budget, "it appears that the money has been moved in the president's budget to handle welfare increases." That is as solidly established as this guy's assertion. |
