In the end, working barbs class people wind up fighting to maintain an order that does not give a damn about them. Your ancestors were used by the plantation owners to barbs fight for THEIR interests and they got sold a bill of goods to make them do so. Most whites were poor back then and subservient to the slaveowning elites, but they were convinced by those wealthy, lazy bastards that at least they were superior to African slaves and Indians. Most whites fell for it. Nothing is different now. The wealthy elites still lie to people to get them to fight wars.
