Though we are partially at fault for our ignorance, there is also a concerted effort in keeping us dumb. We have six main media companies that control the music community television we watch, the music we listen to, the magazines we music community read, the movies we see and the news we receive. From our entertainment to our style of education, we are taught to fill in the blanks, accept only black and white concepts and never question authority. Though this music community produces great pencil pushers that make the rich richer, it doesn’t produce the kind of thoughtful vigilance necessary to ensure our basic rights and freedoms. I Want Change is a part of the new movement that has spontaneously erupted world wide. War does not mean peace and patriotism does not mean blind faith. We must not only question, but also arm ourselves with knowledge and carve out a more equitable way of living. We must create our OWN American dream, not this shrink-wrap, pre-packaged one they keep selling us during commercial breaks.
